Nightmare in Lisbon
Celtic's bad Champions League away record continued in Lisbon last night with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Benfica.
Celtic's away record in the competion now stands at lost 9 and drawn 1 game.
The optimistic feeling that surounded Celtic Park at the start of this week has faded slightly, but Gordon Strachan is right in saying we are still favourites to qualify from group F. After all we still have 6 points secured oppossed to Benfica's and Copenhagen's 4.
The next game against Man Utd, on 21st November is now of huge importance if we are to maintain our destiny in our own hands.
The final group game in Copenhagen may be when Celtic will finally have to break their away duck or suffer falling short once again.
Last nights game through was the 4th time Celtic have played Benfica and each game has finished 3-0 to the home side, I think the odds were 17-1 for that score.
Ah hindsight is a fine thing.
